Flooring repair and refurbishment
Wooden floor finishing can be incredibly durable and hardwood floors can last the lifetime of the house. However their surfaces can loose their finish or become damaged for a number of reasons:
- High heels can cause huge damage to wooden flooring
- Water – leaky pipes or flooding can cause damage
- Scratches from general wear and tear
- Poor fitting which can cause floors to rise in the middle
Not all wooden floors are suitable for repair/refurbishment so before starting work we will assess the condition and suitability of the floor, checking the thickness of the planks, suitability for sanding and general condition.
Repairs
Every repair is different but might involve removing a damaged part of a board and replacing it with a new section. We endeavour to attain a result that blends in with undamaged flooring as best we can.
Refurbishment
Refurbishment comprises the following:
- Preparation – securing loose boards, protruding nails etc.
- Sanding – removing old finish using a high quality sanding process
- Finishing – applying the agreed finishing product (may involve a number of coats)
