The natural characteristics of wood add depth and a visual appearance that many other types of floors try to duplicate. With the demand for hardwood flooring growing, manufactures are enhancing their ranges to meet this demand, with better quality finishes and superior construction techniques.
Variety
Hardwood floors come in a wide variety of wood species, colours, widths and styles. Alongside the classic hardwoods like oak, elm and maple, many manufacturers now offer exotic hardwood species from all over the world, allowing the home owner to better express their own personal decorating tastes.
As well as coming in a wide variety of species, hardwood flooring is available in an exciting choice of finishes. Traditional flooring comes unfinished, and is sanded and finished on site after installation. However more and more boards are pre-finished, with brushed and oiled; lacquered, antique distressed and limed; antique fumed, grey oiled and textured lacquered finishes to name but a few.
They also come in different styles including square shouldered, micro v, hand sawn, soft edges and distressed and tumbled edges.
